Do I Have to Heat Up Marro?

Heat up Marro cat food or serve it cold? Learn what suits your cat best.

Should I warm Marro before I serve it?

In short, it’s completely up to your cat.

We know it’s their world and we’re just living in it. And let’s be honest, we don’t really get much say in the matter. Cats know exactly what they like and how they like it.

Some cats, especially when the weather’s warm, might prefer their Marro straight from the fridge. In our experience, most cats prefer their meals when they’ve been popped in the microwave for about 10 seconds - it’s a bit closer to the temperature of a fresh catch.

In a recent test with our Tastemakers, we found that warming Marro significantly increased the enjoyment of the cats eating the meals. Read more here.

Warming up Marro isn’t essential, but it does tap into your cat’s primal instincts, and it helps unleash those meaty aromas that might just have them licking their lips before the bowl even hits the floor.

How to Safely Warm Your Cat's Marro Serving

To get the best out of your cat's meal without compromising nutrition or safety, follow these simple steps:

  1. Microwave: Transfer the portion into a microwave-safe dish and heat on a low setting for 10 to 15 seconds, stirring midway through.

  2. Hot Water Bath: Place an unopened Marro pouch or portion in a bowl of warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes until it reaches room temperature or slightly warmer.

  3. Always Check the Temperature: Mix the food thoroughly to avoid hot spots, and test a small amount on your wrist before serving. It should feel lukewarm to the touch, never hot.
